Tropical Storm Ramil (international name: Lupit) is a typhoon that entered the Philippine area of responsibility. It is expected to hit Cagayan Valley Region particularly Cagayan province in northern Luzon or Babuyan and Batanes group of islands. As of 21 October 2009, Storm Ramil carries a maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.

History

The typhoon began as a tropical depression in the South Pacific on 14 October 2009. On 16 October 2009, the typhoon was forecasted east southeast of northern Luzon carrying wind of 120 with gustiness of up to 150 kph.

On 17 October 2009, the typhoon was tracked to be 940 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora - which serves as a point of reference packing a maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

20 October 2009, the typhoon was spotted 120 kilometers northeast of Aparri, Cagayan.
