Sylvia Guerrero

Sylvia Guerrero, an activist for civil rights, is a Director of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association Board and an Executive Trustee of the University of the Philippines Center for Women's Studies (UPCWS). She is also a former Dean (1978-88) and professor at the College of Social Work and Community Development (CSWCD), University of the Philippines, Diliman, and the founding Director of the UP Center for Women's Studies (UPCWS), Diliman from 1989 to 1999.

Sylvia Guerrero graduated magna cum laude at the University of the Philippines, Diliman with a degree of AB Psychology in 1958 and finished her M.S. in Agricultural Education at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños in 1966. She received her Ph. D. in Sociology, with specialization in Social Psychology and the Sociology of Development, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison U.S.A. in 1971.
