Sakay is a historical film released in 1993. It is a dramatization of the life of Macario Sakay, a Filipino revolutionary general who fought against the Americans during the Philippine-American War, which ended on 23 March 1901 with the capture of General Emilio Aguinaldo. [1][2] Sakay is known as the last revolutionary to hold out against the Americans.[3]
Synopsis
The film depicts the stronghold of Sakay and the members of his anti-colonial organization, the Tagalog Republic (in Filipino: Republika ng Katagalugan).
Upon the capture of Aguinaldo, Sakay continues the fight for independence from the American government. Ultimately, he and his men are overwhelmed by American forces.[1][2]
