Ricardo Cassell
'Ricardo Cassell was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA in November 1921.
He came to the Philippines in World War II with the Us Army Air Corps. As a ballet master of the Seattle Civic Opera, he started teaching ballet in Manila through his wife's (Roberta Cassell) part-time teaching in Anita Kane's School of Classic Dance. With his wife, he was invited by a student- Pacita Madrigal-Warns to establish the Manila Ballet Academy, that presented the Philippine premier of Giselle. They also established the Cassell Dance Studio and founded the Studio Dance Group. This group aimed to develop the professionalism of the ballet dancing. A repertoire is also built to develop dancers. He also choreographed such as the Beauty and the Beast. A tribute was given to him by Philippine Ballet Theater for bringing the art of ballet to a certain level of professional competence and the most outstanding dancers in the Philippines.
