Reading Association of the Philippines
Established in 1970, the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) is the national affiliate of the International Reading Association (IRA) which aims to improve and promote reading in the Philippines by helping students and teachers hone their communication skills and language strategies.
RAP's objective is in line with IRA's mission of providing support to all those who help others learn to read, through research, policy, practice, leadership, fellowship and networking. The organization has more than 2,000 educators, parents, librarians, researchers, media specialists, and education students.
Activities/Programs
RAP holds two major conferences per year namely: the Midyear Demofest in October and the Annual Convention held every summer. The association also distributes free RAP Journal to all members, featuring conference papers and an outreach program called RAP-on-Wheels which plays a large role in the educational community.
