'Rachel Grant' (born Rachel Louise Padua Grant de Longueuil on 1977 in Manila, Philippines) is a half-Filipino half-British actress, model and martial artist. She is better known as the “Peaceful Fountains of Desire” tasked to assassinate James Bond, played by Pierce Brosnan, in the James Bond series, Die Another Day.
Rachel and her family moved to England shortly after she was born. Her father is Michael Grant, 12th Baron De Longueuil, and is a doctor and hypnotist of English-Scottish and French-Canadian descent. Her mother is Isabel Padua-Grant, who is distantly related to Filipino celebrities Martin Nievera, Joanne Lorenzana, Alma Moreno and the late Alicia Vergel.
Her older sister is Angela, who owns a ballet school in London. Her younger sister, Rebecca, has performed in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Bombay Dreams and is currently in the cast of the British medical drama television series, Holby City.
She attended a Catholic girls’ school in Nottingham and earned eight Grade A General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) marks. She achieved a three-year Diploma in the Performing Arts at the London Studio Centre. She also attended performance courses in RADA, Italia Conti and the Royal Ballet.
Her first foray in acting was as an understudy to the lead princess in the play, Aladdin, at the Oxford Playhouse. She was the body double of Angelina Jolie in ‘'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’'.
She has appeared in a number of high-profile TV advertising campaigns, such as ‘Carlsberg,’ ‘Galaxy,’ and ‘Axe/Lynx Pulse I Like To Party.’
Rachel made her mark in show business in the UK late night television show, ‘Sci-Fright.’ She played the role of Nina, the Mistress of Distress. The ratings of the horror show quadrupled when Rachel was casted in 2001.
Her first break in Hollywood was in 2002 when she played the role of ‘Peaceful Fountains of Desire’ opposite Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond series ‘'Die Another Day'’. Peaceful is a Chinese agent posing as a masseuse tasked to get information from James Bond. She bagged the role after demonstrating her knowledge of martial arts in the audition.
She leads the cast in ‘'Red Princess Blues'’ which opened in Hollyshorts Film Festival and is currently being shown in film festivals worldwide.
Rachel is appointed as the first Philippine Global Ambassador of Gandang Kalikasan, makers of Human Nature beauty and personal care products.
Rachel has helped in a number of charities such as Cancer Research UK and the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). She actively participates in and promotes the work of ‘Gawad Kalinga (GK)’ and has even painted houses in a GK site. She is also the publicist of The Padua Charitable Fund which helps in the building of houses, schools and hospitals for the poor in the Philippines. This organization is founded by her mother and is registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales and with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Philippines.
