Prosperidad Mijares Arandez
Prosperidad Mijares Arandez was born in Kalibu, Aklan on 1 January 1924. She showed interest in dancing and learned to dance the Pukol, Tinikling, Cariñosa, and Escotis from the old folk, while in the elementary school.
She was a dancer and teacher. She helped promote appreciation for Philippine dances in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, and Baguio City through the division's Teachers Dance Group. As an active member, secretary, vice-president, and president of Philippine Folk Dance Society she had been involved in national workshops, documented dances, and conducted lectures and seminars. She was also a recipient of many awards and grants.
