Pista'y Dayat

Pista'y Dayat is a thanksgiving festival celebrated annually in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Pista’y dayat literally means “sea festival.”


The townspeople reserve the first day of May for thanksgiving for the bountiful harvests and abundant fishing observed all over Pangasinan. The tradition comes with mass offerings and a fluvial parade along the Limahong Channel of the Agno River.

Other activities during the festivities include a trade and tourism fair; variety shows; a sports fest; and sandscape, dancesport and, orchestra competitions. After the revelries, the townspeople engage in a communal clean-up.

The Pista’y Dayat Festival is celebrated in combination of other eight featured traditional events in Pangasinan; Galicayo Festival of Manaoag, Pandan Festival of Mapandan, Longganisa Festival of Alaminos, Sugpo Festival of Binmaley, Mango and Bamboo Festival of San Carlos City, Puto Festival of Calasiao, Binongey Festival of Anda, and Sawali Festival of Labrador.
