The Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners is a national organization of professionally trained planners who will make an advancement in the studies of environmental planning in the best interest of the nation. It also aims to promote the professional status of environmental planners in the Philippines.

Objectives

There were several objectives that the organization use as a guideline for their programs and project as well as a way to accomplish their aims. These were:

  • To promote the comprehensive physical, economic, socio-cultural, aesthetic and environment-friendly development of the different regions, cities and municipalities of the Philippines and to encourage rural-urban interdependence in the best interest of the nation.
  • To advance the study and practice of national, regional and urban planning.
  • To raise the professional status among the environmental planners, and to protect and advance the interests of the profession and of those engaged there.
  • To promote professional relationships and understanding between its members and the members of other related professions.

Actions

There were several functions that the organization is taking that follows their objectives and in order for them to achieve their goals. These were:

  • Advancement of their professional practice - composed of fora, symposia, round-table discussions and planning consultations / assistance.
  • Advocacy and networking - internal and external linkages.
  • Professional education - composed seminars, workshops, conferences and refresher courses in planning.
  • Research - policy research, strategy formulation, socio-economic studies, impact analysis, evaluative research and writing fellowships.
  • Information and publications - includes database, directories, newsletter and e-groups.
