Enrique Virata

Enrique Virata was the ninth president of the University of the Philippines. His term lasted from 1956 to 1958. In 1953 he became the first director of the Statistics Training Center, which was a joint project of the University of the Philippines and the United Nations. Mr. Virata continued his passion for statistical analysis even into the 1960s when he conduced political polling by mail.

He was the father of Cesar Virata, the prime minister under the Marcos administration.
