Elbert Or is a Filipino comic artist, children's book illustrator, information designer, creative content developer, university instructor and entrepreneur.
Background and education
Or graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
One of Or's first popular projects was Bakemono High, a comic strip about three monster friends (a werewolf, a vampire and a mummy) in high school, published in K-Zone Magazine Philippines. His work became more widely known with The More The Manyer, a book of Filipino malapropisms with amusingly cute illustrations. After a year, Without Further Adieu was published and was followed by Lola: A Ghost Story, his first mainstream US project as the illustrator for Filipino-Canadian comics writer J. Torres.
Aside from illustrations and design jobs with both small and big corporations, he is also teaching under the Fine Arts program of Ateneo de Manila University. He is also the owner of Global Art Katipunan, an art school that offers an international art and creativity program for kids and adults.
