Datu Hadi Iberein is a native leader mentioned in a local epic or siday entitled "Bingi of Lawan". He is said to have originated from the Lakanate of Lawan.

In an essay which appeared in his book Cracks in the Parchment Curtain and Other Essays in Philippine History, historian William Henry Scott recounted a siday which told of a "Samar datu by the name of Iberein [who] was rowed out to a Spanish vessel anchored in his harbor in 1543 by oarsmen collared in gold; while wearing on his own person earrings and chains."[1]

The Lakanate of Lawan is said to have existed in Samar in the Visayas.
