Dr. Conchita Manabat is a Certified Public Accountant and the Chairperson and Managing Partner of Doloitte Philippines. She has had the distinction of achieving many first in her profession. She was the first woman President of the Philippine Association of Management Accountants, the first woman to chair of the Board of Accountancy of the Philippines and first woman Chair to lead the Philippines’ Capital Market Development Council.

Education

Manabat is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holder of Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Ph.D degree. She studied at the University of the Philippines, the Ateneo de Manila University, the [Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute]]. She pursued executive programs at Harvard Business School and Pennsylvania State University.

Professional career

In Manabat’s 35 years of working in the financial industry, she has achieved many firsts in her profession, Robert Campbell, the former CEO and Managing Partner of Deloitte Asia Pacific once said, “Chit has given a new meaning to the term 'DTT' (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu) as “determined, tenacious, and tough."

She was the first woman President of Philippine Association of Management Accountants from 1981-82, the first woman chair of the Board of Accountancy of the Philippines from 1995 to 1997, the first woman Chair to lead the Philippines’ Capital Market Development Council for four years from 2003 to 2006, and the first woman chair of the International Association of Financial Executives Institutes (IAFEI) from 2005 to 2006.

Manabat was one of the two representatives designated to take part in the Asian Financial Executives Institutes with the other from the People’s Republic of China, to the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) of the International Auditing & Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the CAG of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Her representation and memberships to the Consultative Advisory Groups were firsts in the Philippines and in Asia.

Manabat was also once a board member of the PICPA and the former President of Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), and former Chairperson of the FINEX Foundation. She is also the Managing Partner of Grant Thorton International (Philippine), and Founder and Executive Partner of Laya, Manabat & Salgado.

She sits as a member of the Board in different companies which includes Fujitsu Philippines, Inc., PT International Alliance Food Indonesia, and Marsteel Consolidated. She is also a Trustee of University of San Carlos of Cebu City, Philippines, Institute for Women Studies, Children’s Hour; and a member of the Diocesan Committee on Finance of the Diocese of [[ San Pablo, Laguna]].
