The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines or CEAP is the biggest voluntary organization group of Catholic schools in the country. Founded in 1941, CEAP promotes teaching of Religion as an essential element of Catholic education. It counts approximately 1,252 members, inclusive of pre-schools, elementary schools, secondary schools, universities and colleges, and graduate schools. Majority of its members numbering around 700 are mission schools that offer basic education to the country's poor and the marginalized.

CEAP operates through regional educational associations located in the 16 regions of the country. Representing the interest of Catholic educational institutions, it fosters unity of action with other organizations in educational matters and assists members, especially in mission areas, to achieve common and specific aims.

CEAP aims to advance and promote the teaching function of the Catholic Church, with the ultimate goal of achieving the total development of the human person. It promotes religious instruction as an essential element of Catholic education, thereby contributing towards character formation and citizenship building. It also strives to respond to social, political, moral and other critical issues based on consultations with the different regions. When the situation requires, it calls for the collective action of its members.


Operations

It is a non-stock, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors composed of 15 regional directors, and the chairperson of the Superintendents Commission. The Board is supported by a National Secretariat headed by an Executive Director.

CEAP has four commissions:

  • the Superintendents Commission which gathers all diocesan and congregational school superintendents;
  • the Commission on Religious Education;
  • the Advocacy Commission; and
  • the Retirement Commission


Associations and Affiliations

The CEAP represents Catholic schools in such organizations as the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE), the [[Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), and the Private Education Retirement Annuity Association (PERAA). Its affiliations include the Association of Foundations, the International Office of Catholic Education (L'Office International de L'Enseignement Catholique - OIEC), and the International Federation of Catholic Universities.

Other partners include Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education of the Philippines(DEPED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Private Educational Advisory Board (PEAB), Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU), and Association of Philippine Private Technology-Based Instutions (APPTI).


The incumbent president of CEAP is Br. Narciso S. Erguiza FSC, the President of De La Salle University Araneta.
