Aglipay, officially the Municipality of Aglipay (Ilocano: Ili ti Aglipay; Tagalog: Bayan ng Aglipay), is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Quirino, Philippines that was named after Gregorio Aglipay, a former Catholic priest who would go on to become the first Supreme Bishop of the Philippine Independent Church. When he was a priest, Aglipay joined the Katipunan, in 1898, and rebelled against the Spanish colonizers, which led to his excommunication by the Vatican and the Catholic Church.  He settled at the banks of Addalam River in what would be named the town of Aglipay.
