She obtained her Bachelor of Science (pre-medicine) from UP Diliman in 1978; finished her Degree of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Sto. Tomas in 1985; and got her Diploma in Dermatology from the Institute of Dermatology in 1990 in Bangkok, Thailand.
At present, Belo, is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, and the American Society of Lipoplastic Surgery.
[edit] Career
She became a doctor not because she has a quest for her own perfection but rather to give people a chance. Learning from the song that went "I learned the truth at 17, that life was meant for beauty queens..." From her own life experiences when she was growing up, despite being intelligent, being a little bit fat and having bad skin became her dilemma. She stressed though that her goal is not to make anyone perfect rather to make people the best that they can be.
Her marketing efforts and advertising the products and services she offers, cosmetic surgery, liposuction and the business of breast enhancements has become a very profitable business. More and more doctors are dabbling into the business of making people look better.
Her field of specialization includes: advance techniques in phlebology from the Pauline Raymond-Martimbeau Vein Institute; dermatologic surgery from Scripps Clinics in San Diego, California; cutaneous laser surgery from Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts; and skin rejuvenation and laser surgery from St. Francis Memorial Hospital, University of California, San Francisco, California.
In the Philippines, Belo is a pioneer in the new ultrasound Tumescent liposuction — preceptorship with Dr. Jeffrey Klein in Capistrano, California and in the Aptos Thread seamless facelift — trained with Drs. Marlen and Georges Sulamanidze.
Dr. Belo is very much in the media eye. She is closely followed by the public because of her TV shows, spectacular billboards ads in Metro Manila and many celebrity endorsers. Her number one endorser Kris Aquino, the top TV and movie personality, severed ties with her on June 1, 2007, due to the scandal caused by James Yap's alleged involvement with a Belo Medical Group secretary.

[edit] Controversy
In May 2009, Vicki Belo figured in a controversy involving her former lover of three years Hayden Kho, a young Chinese-Filipino doctor and ramp model from Marinduque, when the latter's sex videos with GMA Network actress Katrina Halili leaked and spread over the net. A couple of showbiz insiders points to the scandalous sex videos as the reason of their break-up.
The videos showed Kho engaging in explicit sexual acts with Halili, a doctor-turned-commercial model, and a Brazilian model at different periods and were apparently filmed in Kho's bedroom with the video camera hidden in his closet. The videos in question had been pulled out of YouTube and other media-sharing sites though rogue clips continued to proliferate in blogs and were forwarded in emails and passed around in social networking sites. Copies have also been made and sold by video pirates.
A day after, Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. immediately delivered a privilege speech denouncing Kho, calling him names. Revilla then asked the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) to revoke Kho’s medical license and called on the Senate to immediately pass Senate Bill (SB) 12 also known as the Anti-Pornography Act of 2007 which he filed two years ago, which would "inflict heavy penalties on those who publish, broadcast, and exhibit pornographic material through the use of traditional media, cyberspace, mobile phones, and other media." As the scandal becomes a "national issue," several government agencies announce their intent to hold independent probes.
Rumors circulated that it was Belo who is allegedly behind the reproduction and circulation of different sex video scandals involving Hayden Kho with Katrina Halili, a minor Brazilian Model and a doctor-turned-commercial-model which she vehemently denied. Kho later on admitted to shooting the videos but said that he did not upload it over the Internet. He suspected his fraternity brother and schoolmate at the Ateneo High School as the persons to have possibly uploaded the videos. From these allegations, the NBI has expanded its probe to cover not just Halili’s complaint of psychological violence against Kho, but also cybersex crimes.
Halili claimed that she did not know she was being filmed. She filed two counts of libel against the mother of cosmetic surgeon who alleged in TV interviews that the actress was addicted to drugs and had turned her son into a drug user. The actress claimed that Irene Kho’s statements were all made to sway the attention of the public from Hayden Kho's wrongdoings.
