Uwang Ahadas

Uwang Ahadas is from Lamitan, Basilan. His near-blindness eyesight made music his constant companion. Ahadas is a Yakan, a people to whom instrumental music is of much significance, connected as it is with both the agricultural cycle and the social realm. He is a hands-on-teacher to interested individuals who wants to learn playing Yakan instruments including the kwintangan, kayu, and tuntungan. A GAMABA (Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan) 2000 awardee.
