UP Centennial Lecture Series

In celebration of the University of the Philippines' 100th year, the university organizes the University of the Philippines Centennial Lecture Series. It is a series of talks and public lectures of distinguished scholars, academicians, and professionals from various fields and will focus on Philippine, international, and University of the Philippines (UP)-related issues and ideas. The Centennial lectures will be conducted in various UP campuses throughout 2008.
A unique feature of the lectures is the interactive nature of the discussions. The lectures will be beamed live in all UP campuses so that the speakers will be able to interact with the audience. Those who cannot be physically-present at the different venues can watch the lectures via web streaming.
UP Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Amelia P. Guevara, chairs the Centennial Lecture Series Committee with Assistant Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Celia T. Adriano as co-chair. Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Florinda Mateo serves as Associate Producer.
Dr. Grace Javier-Alfonso, UP Open University (UPOU) Chancellor, is the director of the Lecture Series' production committee. Assisting her are the production team from UPOU's Multimedia Center and the technical team from UP Diliman Interactive Learning Center.

[edit] UP Centennial Lecture Series Categories
The following are the UP Centennial Lecture Series categories.
- UP: The Insider's View – will have 12 distinguished UP Centennial Fellows delivering a critique on the state university, including lectures on UP's achievements, strengths, shortcomings, failures, future, and other UP-related issues and concerns
- UP: The View from Outside – will focus on the views of centennial lecturers on UP
- Lectures from Distinguished Fellows – will feature lectures by distinguished fellows and individuals from other countries
- Thematic Lectures – will focus on various issues such as poverty alleviation, global warming, women's issues, peace and other related issues
