Legacy and Advocacy
The organization was founded in August 1992 and was established to consolidate the LGBT community of UP in its advocacy of rights in the university and in the national sphere. Members of this organization composed of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered student. UP Babaylan is officially recognized by the University. The organization aims to forge unity among gay and lesbian students and faculty and unity within the community. Their aim is to be recognized and as part of the civil society and to advance their rights. The organization aims to empower the LGBT community by educating them on their rights as members of the society and teaching them how to be assertive in the exercise of their rights.
Gender Sensitivity Activities
The organization holds a series of workshop on gender, sex and sexuality in the university. The workshop aims to inform students and to open their minds about the LGBT community. The organization also holds workshop on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and safer sex and exhibits pictures depicting different faces of HIV infected individuals.
