The UP Student Catholic Action (UPSCA) is one of the oldest organizations in the university. It is an organization of Catholic UP students who hold regular discussion on theological ideas and other campus issues.

The UPSCA can be traced back to 1939 when Fr. James McCarthy, an American priest, created a Student Catholic Action in UP, patterned after a similar group in the US. Since then the UPSCA has contributed in many ways to UP culture, with their advocacy for the establishment of the Chapel of the Holy Sacrifice, and their Barriowork program wherein they get adopted for a foster family and attain a different perspective on how things go in the world.
