The year 2008 was the blogger's year, as blogs gained more recognition and influence. From political exposes to showbiz scandals to personal commentaries, 2008's bloggers were a varied sort. But one thing is clear: all of Wikipilipinas' Top Ten Most Scandalous Blogs of the Year 2008 either caused or covered controversies and were much talked about, this year and perhaps far into next year as well.

They done him wrong, he said, so this Aussie gay blogged about it. The result: a scandal that rocked the enclaves of Manila's "rich and famous", threats of lawsuits, and thousands of comments and page hits for Mr. Gorrell.

It took just one blog post on Facebook about her "immersion experience" in an Aeta community to earn this girl a round of flak from the Internet community and then some. The blog post was screencapped by another member and posted on Multiply, and it spread like wildfire. The discussion isn't even over yet.

Blogger Chuvachienes got a tip from a reader about a Congressman's daughter allegedly caught doing drugs, and blogged about it, even posting a picture. Reader comments poured in, Chuva received an email purportedly from Malacañang Palace, and was threatened with a lawsuit in the bargain. The blog post has now been removed.

Journalist Ellen Tordesillas' frank and pungent comments in her blog about political issues and current events earn her a devoted readership and hundreds of comments on each post. According to her, it has also earned her death threats, but she still goes on writing.

Coming in at the very end of the year, this young Filipina described in her blog how a prominent politician and his son beat up her father and her teenage brother because of a golf course argument. Her post has elicited hundreds of comments and been picked up and reposted by other bloggers and various news outlets.
