In this day and age, gyms can be seen almost everywhere in the country. It only proves that Filipinos value health even with our busy day to day activities. Below is a list of the top ten fitness gyms and health clubs in the Philippines that encourage Pinoys to get fit and healthy.


Fitness First

In 1992, the original Fitness First Gym & Health began solely as a health and fitness club in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. From then on, Fitness First has evolved and became the top gym of choice worldwide with1.5 million members. In the Philippines, Fitness First started in October 2001, with its first center at the Robinsons Summit Center in Makati City. Currently, there are 15 Fitness First clubs and three Fitness First Platinum clubs across the country. The latest Fitness First Platinum club in Alabang offers a meticulous exercise using “technogym” devices that include Suspension Exercise (S-X), ViPR, and Kettlebell which is designed for the wrist and over-all cardiovascular health. Fitness First also initiated a life-changing mission in 2009 called the New You Achievement Awards (NYAA).

Gold’s Gym

Gold’s Gym started to operate in 1965 in California and, sooner than expected, became “The Mecca of Bodybuilding.” In 1977, it gained the attention of the public when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno filmed the documentary, Pumping Iron in the said gym. Currently, Gold’s Gym has 10 branches around the metro and will soon open two new branches in Centris EDSA and Cebu. Being a “co-ed gym,” it also offers Basic Instructors Course, Group Exercise Instructors Certificate, and Personal Training Instructors course to aspiring personal trainers and gym instructors.

Slimmers World

Slimmers World International has been in the “slimming, health, fitness, and beauty” business for thirty years. Recently, it conducted the 2011 Miss Bikini Philippines where three hundred participants joined. Claudette delos Reyes of Olongapo City won the title.

Elorde Boxing Gym

Named after one of the most excellent Filipino boxers of all time, Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, Elorde Boxing Gym was formed to offer boxing as an alternative option in developing healthy and active living. Then in the mid-90s, it adapted the conventional method of exercise. There are currently 16 branches of Elorde Boxing Gym nationwide.


Fitness Exchange, otherwise known as FTX, offers 15 “Cirqfit Signature Exercises” to further add oomph in each buff’s busy body and mind. On top of that, FTX comes up with personalized packages personalize packages for their customer’s convenience – within FTX gym, in the patron’s abode, or even in the client’s office at whatever time of day. FTX, likewise, brought in their “fly yoga” exercise which is influenced by Cirque du Soleil.

One Spa & Fitness Center

One Spa & Fitness Center operates in six floors of a high-rise building at 639 Banawe St. corner N.S. Amoranto (formerly Retiro) in Quezon City. The first level has a coffeehouse and a salon, while the aerobics room, mini-boxing area, and rock climbing area are placed at the second floor. Meanwhile, the gym is on the third floor while the reflexology lounge, locker rooms, sauna and Jacuzzi are in fourth deck. Lastly, the massage rooms are on the fifth floor and their main office is positioned at the sixth floor.

Actor Diether Ocampo is co-owner of One Spa & Fitness Center which explains why he frequently works out in the said gym.

Planet Infinity

Some time ago, Planet Infinity operated twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Now, only Tuesdays and Wednesdays have 24/7 operating hours. Nevertheless, showbiz columnist Butch Francisco swears that it is the “Shangri-La Hotel of gyms.” The charge for service is quite luxurious but worth the price. Moreover, Planet Infinity offers classes on boxing, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai.


Mojo MMA GYM is not only a fitness gym but a martial arts center as well. It offers lectures in boxing, Brazilian JiuJitsu, \Fighting Conditioning, and Muay Thai among others. Patrons include actors Sheena Halili, Luis Manzano, and Rocco Nacino. It’s open from Monday to Saturday, 6 A.M. till 10 P.M..

Red Corner Fitness and Boxing Club

Red Corner Fitness and Boxing Club has been offering boxing and mixed martial arts classes for over-all fitness. Its credo is “real fitness for real people” which is why the gym keeps in mind its clients’ needs by designing programs to help them reach their fitness goals. Boxer Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria has trained in this gym.

Tara Gym

Tara Gym Body Building & Fitness Gym was once called as Kidlat Gym. It endorses aerobic and anaerobic exercises as their area of expertise. It is located at the Metrolane Shopping Arcade in Cubao.
