The Inauguration of the Third Philippine Republic, on 4 July 1946, marks the end of colonial rule of the United States of America in the Philippines. After 48 years, the United States fulfilled its pledge to grant the Philippines its independence in a ceremony held at the Luneta Grandstand. Manuel Roxas and Elpidio Quirino signed in as the first President and Vice-President, respectively, of the Third Philippine Republic.
