I also would like to know the history and origin of HIGANTEs in Antipolo. It appears 10 nights before the Antipolo town Fiesta. My late mother, who is a Bicolana (my father is a pure Antipolenio) used to tell me stories that in the 1950's these Higante's parade the streets of Antipolo nightly from Nov. 28 to December 8 dancing with the music of the marching band. When these Higante's are dancing in front of our house, she usally hide. She was young then at the age of 17 and was not so familiar with Antipolo culture.
Because of the many festivities in Antipolo, this was not given so much attention. But it is still being practiced and makes the streets of Antipolo livelier during the first week of December.
I also would like to know when this tradition started.
Thank you so much.
