Scrapbooking in the Philippines has truly evolved. We all recall fondly the time when our teachers ask us to cut-out magazine pictures of flowers and cute things, and incorporate them into our photo albums. We see them do the same on the school bulletin boards and lesson plans. They use whichever materials are available. We are then clueless about acid-free paper.

Now we can see in Philippine bookstores and craft shops a wide array of scrapbooking materials. Scrapbooking in the Philippines, has truly arrived. A vast majority of scrapbookers are Filipinas. They now talk about acid-free, lignin-free and photo-safe. They now build websites and blogs, just to showcase their work and share ideas. They form groups (live and e-groups) to discuss layouts, tips and techniques.

The advent of the internet has further enhanced the creativity of the Filipina scrapbooker. Access to online international and local resources providing free tutorials, digital freebies and contests became a way for the scrapbookers to hone their skills and creativity.

It is not uncommon to discover that Filipina scrapbookers win local and international scrapbooking contests and challenges.
