Sarah Asher Tua Geronimo (born on July 25, 1988) is a Filipino singer, dancer, and actress. Born to a large, indigent family in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines, After her child appearance in 1992 on a children's TV show Pen-Pen de Sarapen, ABS-CBN's children's show called Ang TV in 1996, and other several television shows, Geronimo gained fame when she emerged as the grand champion of “Star for a Night” singing completion.<ref name="Sarah Geronimo's Early works">{{cite web|url=http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?articleId=218774&publicationSubCategoryId=96%7Cpublisher=philstar.com%7Cdate=2003-8-27%7Ctitle=Sarah Geronimo's Early

She is also known for her role in ‘’Bituing Walang Ningning’’ and ‘’Pangarap Na Bituin’’ as an aspiring singer. Life and career

Early works

Sarah Geronimo was born to Delfin Geronimo, a retired PLDT employee and Divina Geronimo, who ran a beauty parlor in Sta. Cruz Manila. Her siblings are Johna Rizzie, Sunshine Grace, and Ezekiel Gabriel.

Sarah showed early interest in music. She took music lessons from her father and sang in mall shows at the at the age of two. She auditioned for various kid-oriented TV programs including Pen-pen de Sarapen, Ang TV, and NEXT. She continued performing in local shopping malls and hotel lounges and was able to perform during the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1995. She also joined singing contests including Tuklas Talino.


Rise to fame: 2002-2003

In 2003, Sarah won the singing contest Star For A Night with her outstanding rendition of Celine Dion's "To Love You More". She was awarded P1 million and a recording contract with Viva Records.

In September 2003, she released her debut album Popstar: A Dream Come True that sold over 350,000 copies. The album is known for hit singles "Forever's Not Enough", "To Love You More", and "Sa Iyo". Sarah also staged her first concert at the Music Museum.

Sarah appeared in various GMA shows and movies such as Filipinas, Captain Barbell, and Annie B.


Career Success: 2004-Present

Sarah Geronimo's The Next One concert

In 2004, Sarah signed a contract with ABS-CBN launching her television career. She starred in her first light drama series entitled Sarah: The Teen Princess and became a mainstay performer in ASAP.

In 2005, she performed in her first major solo concert The Other Side at the Araneta Coliseum. A DVD of the concert was released and reached platinum.

Her initial career in ABS-CBN was marked by various guest appearances in shows including SCQ Reload. In 2006, she was chosen as the lead cast of the primetime series Bituing Walang Ningning, adapted from a Sharon Cuneta movie. This was followed by the release of her album Becoming.

In 2007, she hosted Little Big Star, a singing competition for kids, and took the lead role in another primetime series Pangarap na Bituin with Jericho Rosales, Maja Salvador, and Rica Peralejo. She also performed in another major concert entitled Sarah Geronimo: In Motion at Araneta Coliseum. She also went in a US tour and was named the youngest performer to have filled up the Araneta Coliseum. This success was followed by the release of another album, Taking Flight.

In 2008, she debuted on the big screen with actor John Lloyd Cruz in a Star Cinema and Viva Film collaboration entitled A Very Special Love. The movie earned a gross income of P180 million and was the second highest grossing Philippine film of all time.

In 2009, Sarah starred in the sequel of A Very Special Love, You Changed My Life that earned a gross income of P230 million.
