Ramon Valera

Ramon Valera (31 August 1912 - 1972) was a Filipino designer from 1930's to 1960's known for his elegant gowns and ternos. Named National Artist in 2006, he is the first National Artist in Fashion. He was also one of the first male fashion designers. He began his career in design in 1935. Among his illustrious clients were First Ladies Aurora Quezon and Imelda Marcos and actress Gloria Romero. He made innovations to the terno, making it one piece and doing away with the tapis and panuelo.
