Pantaleon Valmonte

Pantaleon Valmonte was a general in the Philippine Revolution against Spain and led the First Cry of Nueva Ecija on September 2, 1896. He commanded 3,000 Katipuneros and captured the provincial capitol and the governor of San Isidro. Pantaleon was then the Kapitan Municipal of Gapan. His leadership during the Revolution earned Nueva Ecija a ray in the sun adorning the Philippine flag. [1]

- Pantaleon Valmonte is commonly referred as Pataleon Belmonte in history books.
- Panteleon was a schoolmate of Jose Rizal in Ateneo.
- They attacked San Isidro accompanied by Banda de cabiao or Cabiao band. The troops wore red ribbons during the assault on San Isidro.
