Nuestra Señora De Pronto Socorro (Our Lady of Prompt Help) has 20 x 15.5 centimeter dimensions.
The absence of painters in the Philippines during the 16th century led the missionaries to commission skillful Chinese to paint, thus this painting is made by an anonymous Chinese painter in 1585. The picture is a full-length image of the Blessed Virgin carrying her infant.
Painted on metal with gold, pearl, and diamond applique, it holds the traditional image of the Buddhist goddess of mercy- Kuan-Yin.
