Mu Lambda Fraternity and Sorority
Mu Lambda is a confraternity based at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMC) College of Medicine in the Philippines.
The fraternity was founded in 1965 by a group of medical students whose aim was to provide academic assistance whilst fostering camaraderie and brotherhood amongst its members. Three years later, the fraternity's counterpart, the Mu Lambda Sorority, was born.
Orientation and projects
Both organizations were formed with academic excellence and social service as their main thrusts. It sponsors various socio-civic activities each year by itself or with the help of various community and civic organizations such as rotary clubs and provincial governments.
The confraternity spearheads blood donation drives with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Philippine Chapter, medical and surgical missions, as well as the much anticipated Carolfest held in the UERMMC yearly in December.
Each year, Mu Lambda welcomes the young and enthusiastic first year medical students with a Freshman Cocktail. The freshmen and women get to meet the more senior members of the medical community including the professors and clinical instructors in an informal environment. This event somehow helps the youngest group to blend in and assimilate in the stressful and competitive medical school community.
Through the years, Mu Lambda has become an invaluable organization not just in the university but in the entire community in general. It boasts a roster of excellent academicians, medical and surgical doctors, scientists, researchers from it's alumni brothers and sisters in the Philippines and all over the world.
It strives to achieve its commitment of academic excellence in the medical community and assistance in providing every Filipino the health care they deserve, which they view as the legacy that has been handed down by its founding brothers and sisters.
