Lara Saguisag

Ma. Larisa Montserrat “Lara” Q. Saguisag is an award-winning children's poem and story writer in English. She is the author of children books There's a Duwende in My Brother's Soup, Cat Eyes, and Tonyo's Wishes. Her book of children poetry entitled Children of Two Seasons: Poems for Young People won the Writing for Children Chapbook Series Award from The New School, New Yorkin 2006.

Saguisag finished college at the University of the Philippines. She attained her Masteral of Arts in Children Literature from Hollins University and her Masteral of Arts in Creative Writing from The New School in New York. She currently completing her Ph.D. in childhood studies at Rutgers University.

Saguisag is one of the founders of Kwentista ng mga Tsikiting or KUTING, an association of children fiction writers in the Philippines and is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. Before going abroad, she taught at the University of the Philippines.
Saguisag is a daugther of former senator and lawyer Rene Saguisag and the late former secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Dulce Quintanas Saguisag.
