Karla Paula Ginteroy Henry (b. 23 May 1986) was crowned as Miss Earth 2008 during the Coronation Night held at the Clark Expo Ampitheater in Pampanga, Philippines. A Filipino-Canadian beauty queen and model, Karla beat over eighty beauties from around the world.
Karla Henry was born on May 23, 1986 in Limay, Bataan to Nenet Genteroy from Bataan and Dennis Henry from Vancouver, Canada (where Karla’s predecessor, half-Filipina Jessica Nicole Trisko, also hails from).
 Career highlights
Henry started modeling and joining pageants at the age of seventeen in Cebu, where she works as guest service associate at the Marco Polo Hotel. This is where she met Rodgil Flores (known as the "queen-maker") who encouraged her to join the year’s Bb. Pilipinas pageant, though she lost and wasn't able to bring home any title. This did not discourage her. Instead she underwent serious training for two months until she joined the Miss Philippines Earth 2008 pageant and took home the crown.
Henry bested 84 other contestants from all over the world, succeeding Canada’s Jessica Trisko, Miss Earth 2007. She also won the Miss Earth Designers Award and Miss Photogenic special award. Miss Tanzania, Miriam Odemba was Miss Earth Air (1st runner-up); Miss Mexico, Abigail Elizalde was Miss Earth Water (2nd runner-up), and Miss Brazil Tatiane Alves won Miss Earth Fire (3rd runner-up).
Miss Earth is described as one of the three largest beauty pageants in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions to participate in the world finals.
