Jonas Burgos

Jonas Joseph T. Burgos is an activist, peasant leader, and agriculturist who was abducted in 2007 and remains missing.

On 28 April 2007, he was reportedly taken by a group of gunmen while having lunch at the Hapag Kainan restaurant, Ever Gotesco Mall along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City. Jonas was then taken to a maroon Toyota Revo (later traced to the 56th Infantry Battalion) waiting in the parking lot.

Burgos is the third of five children of Edita Burgos and the late Jose "Joe" Burgos, Jr. He is a member of the Alyansa ng Magsasaka sa Bulacan, a chapter of the militant group Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas. He was 36 at the time of his abduction.
