Inocencia Solis, 1950s Fastest Women in Asia

Inocencia Solis, a native of Iloilo City, was called the fastest women in Asia in 1958 before (Mona Sulaiman), when she finished the 100-meter sprint in 12.5 seconds ahead of two Japanese runners in the Tokyo Asian Games and she was declared Athlete of the Year. She also participated in the 4th Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1958 and was a recipient of gold medal. Before this, the international champeon was also considered a national figure in the Philippines for she won the bronze medal in the 200-meter dash event at the 1954 Manila Asiad which was a national record. She was national champion at PRISAA Pampanga and in the national open in 1953. In 1954, she participated in the 2nd Asian Games in Manila and earned gold medal.
