GMA Kapuso Foundation

GMA Kapuso Foundation, formerly GMA Foundation Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit charitable institution mandated to promote the public welfare through active involvement in philantrophic, humanitarian and charitable services.

GMA Foundation Inc. began in 1991 as a loose organization composed of volunteers who helped in responding to the needs of the victims in the disastrous Mount Pinatubo eruption and Ormoc tragedy. It was primarily organized as a means of delivering the basic needs of the victims to help them sustain life during these two tragedies. From then on, whenever man-made needs and natural calamities comes, the foundation is always on the rescue, either through referrals or direct provision of resources and services.

Seeking to create greater impact to larger number of people, GMA Foundation Inc. decided to adopt a more formal system, process and structure. The foundation started the change in 1996, wherein they integrated more systematic programs to better address the public's demands. To date, GMA Kapuso Foundation has a total of ten projects in health, education, and social services. Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan, Bisig Bayan,Kalusugan Karavan, Feed -A- Child,Operation Bayanihan, Give-A-Gift, Gift For A Cause are among the few.

Moreover, GMA Kapuso Foundation also valued the principle of synergy to make more relevant contribution to people's lives. Thus, they constantly engaged individuals and partnered with various institutions and organizations in advocating its programs. Some of these socio-civic organizations they are working with are: Haribon Foundation and Philippine National Red Cross. Because of this partnerships, the institution had already served a cross-section of the country.Among the latest areas they visited are the Bicol region, Bohol, Samar, Lanao del Norte, Abra and Ilocos Sur.

Vision

To accomplished the most trusted, and most credible non-government organization in the Philippines; the leader in serving and uplifting the lives of the underprivileged members of our society through serbisyong totoo and the responsible use of media.

Mission

To uplift the life of the underprivileged Kapusong-Filipino all over the Philippines by:

  • Providing quick-response relief operations to fulfill their most immediate needs in times of crisis.
  • Undertaking health, nutrition and medical projects to promote greater equity in health.
  • Carrying out developmental programs designed to promote education and foster learning.

Valueing the relationships with the local, national and international partners, and recognize the impact that they have the capability to provide and help those who need it most. Committed and ensuring sustainable operations to enable to continue being a “strong bridge” for donors and beneficiaries by actively promoting the Foundation’s initiatives to solicit sufficient funding.

In so doing, they've effectively bridge the distances that comes between those that need help and those extending a helping hand. As such, they recognize the power of media and its role in eliciting a sense of compassion from donors, and promoting volunteerism among Filipinos, and continue to use it responsibly as a means to achieve there organizational goals.

Throughout the years, GMA Kapuso Foundation had received notable awards and citations such as: Outstanding NGO for Community Development (1997 and 2004), Centennial Award for Medical and Health Services (2005), and Anvil Awards of Merit (2006).
