The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines or CEAP is the biggest voluntary organization group of Catholic schools in the country. Founded in 1941, CEAP promotes teaching of Religion as an essential element of Catholic education. It counts approximately 1,200 members as of September 2007, inclusive of pre-schools, elementary schools, secondary schools, universities and colleges, and graduate schools.

Operations

It is a non-stock, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors composed of 15 regional directors, and the chairperson of the Superintendents Commission. The Board is supported by a National Secretariat headed by an Executive Director.

CEAP has four commissions:

  • the Superintendents Commission which gathers all diocesan and congregational school superintendents;
  • the Commission on Religious Education;
  • the Advocacy Commission; and
  • the Retirement Commission

Associations and Affiliations

The CEAP represents Catholic schools in such organizations as the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE), the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), and the Private Education Retirement Annuity Association (PERAA). Its affiliations include the Association of Foundations, the International Office of Catholic Education (L'Office International de L'Enseignement Catholique - OIEC), and the International Federation of Catholic Universities.

The incumbent president of CEAP is Fr. Roderick C. Salazar, who is also the President of the University of San Carlos in Cebu.

The CEAP National Convention

The CEAP holds an annual National Convention. Usually held on the second week of September, the National Convention is attended by school heads, area coordinators, teachers, students, and parents of Catholic schools and religious congregations.
