Carolyn I. Sobritchea, Ph.D., is an internationally-recognized gender expert on the Philippines. She is professor of Philippine Studies at the Asian Center in UP Diliman. She served as director of the Center for Women's Studies of the University of the Philippines (UP) System from 2000-2007. She has written and lectured extensively on reproductive health and development, migration and HIV/AIDS, women's human rights and gender and microfinance. She has also served as resource person in several United Nations committee meeting on women.
