Arellano University Chiefs
The Arellano University Chiefs, formerly known as the Flaming Arrows, is the varsity team of Arellano University, and represents the school as a guest team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
In the 1970s, the Arellano Flaming Arrows won the National Students' Championship. The team later joined the National Capital Region Athletic Association and was part of the best-of-three finals in the men's basketball division in 2006. The following year, they became champion prevailing against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals. In 2008, the Chiefs' win in the NCRAA qualified them for the 2008 Philippine Collegiate Championship for basketball. They defeated the Universal College Golden Dragons in the first round but were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
In the NCAA
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) opened a slot for a new member due to the departure of the Philippine Christian University Dolphins. However, the NCAA failed to garner enough number of votes to admit a new member and instead invited “guest teams”. Along with AUF Great Danes and the EAC Generals, the Arellano University Chiefs were accepted as guest teams for the 2009-2010 season. The Chiefs finished fifth and one of them, Giorgio Ciriacruz was named part of the Mythical Five.
