The Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) is a national holiday in the Philippines celebrated every 9th day of April of every year to commemorate the heroism of Filipinos and USAFFE officers and soldiers who fought against the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. It marks the day when the combined forces of Filipinos and Americans surrendered after gallantly defending the Bataan peninsula against the Japanese in 1942 --known as the Fall of Bataan.

It is also known today as "Bataan Day."
