Anthony Castelo

Anthony Castelo is a Filipino singer currently based in the United States. He was popular in the 1980s, competing with equally famous Filipino singers such as Haji Alejandro, Rey Valera, Marco Sison and Rico J. Puno. He popularized songs such as "Ng Dahil sa Pag-ibig," "Balat Kayo" and "Hahanapin Ko," among others. His albums include Panaginip, Balatkayo, Unang Halik, Antonio Cecilio Castelo and Anthony Castelo Greatest Hits, all under Sunshine Records.

Career

Castelo started singing while still a student at the University of the Philippines, joining the Gentle Rain - a popular singing group led by well-known songwriter/producer Nonong Pedero and composed of Boy Camara and Rody Picar. Singing ballads and love songs, the group attracted huge following not only in their college, but in the whole university as well. Castelo was later on discovered by famous recording producers and OPM pioneers Vic del Rosario, Tony Ocampo, Orly Ilacad and Tito Sotto.
