Aliwan Fiesta
Aliwan Fiesta is the grandest<ref name="test1">MBC's Aliwan Fiesta</ref> fiesta celebration in the Philippines. It is a yearly street dance competition participated in by all regional fiesta delegation in the country. It was initially organized by the media outfit Manila Broadcasting Company in 2003 to provide a visual fiesta extravaganza to the public which later turned into an annual summer spectacle that brings out the multi-faceted creativity of the ebullient, fun-loving Pinoy in many incarnations. It also aims to bring all the festivals of the country in Manila for a one big festival championship. <ref name="test2">Unique Filipino Culture</ref>

This event continuously draws thousands of participants from various parts of the country in a cornucopia of sights and sounds where people's entertainment has found fruition in the biggest and grandest Philippine festival ever.

Regional Competition

<ref name="test3">MBC Sales Website</ref>The Aliwan fiesta competition is the biggest of all competition with more than 3,000 dancers, musicians, and acrobats that compete for being the best of the best performers every year. Street dance is being performed in a four-kilometer stretch along Roxas Boulevard, from Quirino Grandstand to the CCP Complex. The massive contingents from different parts of the country are accompanied by gigantic floats atop of which ride flawless muses- all depicting the most popular festivals throughout the archipelago.

In joining the national event, each regional dancers has to <ref name="test4">The Mother of RP Festival</ref>undergo a stringent process for qualification to the contingent. They undergo several elimination cycles during various local festivals to determine the 100 dancers, 60 musicians, 90 support staff, and 25 float staff to represent Shariff Kabunsuan. The performers then undergo weekly rehearsals, which increase in frequency in the weeks leading up to the Aliwan Fiesta.

When Aliwan Fiesta started in 2003, more and more regional participants attended the event not just for the prizes but for regional pride which is very important to every Filipino. Aliwan uplift the regionalistic ideal and all contingents are eager to showcase the richness of their hometown’s culture and heritage not only in their area but also to city people, and to the world.<ref name="test4">The Mother of RP Festival</ref>
