Alexis Tioseco

Alexis A. Tioseco (1981-2009) was a film critic from the Philippines and a contributor for UNO Magazine. He was also the founding editor of Criticine.com, an online journal on Southeast Asian Cinema.

Aside from being a film critic, Tioseco had written for different publications in the country such as the Philippine Daily Inquirer and the Philippine Star. His works have also appeared in foreign publications such as Screen International, Ekra (Slovenia), Panic (France), Senses of Cinema.com, Osian's Cinema.com, and catalogues of the Torino and Pesaro International Film Festivals.

He was a faculty member of the Arts Department of the University of Asia and the Pacific.

[edit] Death

On 1 September 2009, armed robbers entered Tioseco's Quezon City home and shot him and his lover Nika Bohinc dead. According to the couple's household help Magdalena Patpat, the robbers were given entry by another helper named Criselda, who escaped with them, taking jewelry, cash, and a laptop from Tioseco and Bohinc's room.
