The Lyceum of the Philippines University is an institute of higher education located in Manila's Intramuros and founded by Jose P. Laurel. The school is named after lykeion, the grove in ancient Athens where Aristotle taught his pupils. The institute's educational vision is founded on principles Jose P. Laurel set down.

One of its most prominent features is its entry point, the "Hall of Heroes" which exhibits busts of revered Philippine historical figures sculpted by the National Artist Guillermo Tolentino.

The school is affiliated with the Lyceum of Batangas, the Lyceum Institute of Technology in Calamba City,Laguna and the Lyceum-St. Cabrini College of Allied Medicine in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Many disciplines are taught the school, yet foreign service has consistently remained the Lyceum's flagship course. The Lyceum has produced many leaders and officials in Philippine public service as well as in the country's foreign affairs department.

It is a member of the Intramuros Consortium which includes the technical school Mapua Institute of Technology, the Catholic school Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and the city-owned Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.

The main campus occupies what used to be a hospital during the Spanish colonial period.

It opened its gates to its first students on July 7, 1952.

The Lyceum campus at Intramuros was built on the site where the old San Juan de Dios Hospital was located.

Today, all classrooms are spacious and air conditioned to facilitate learning. All these are wired through the school's integrated computer network.

The school's motto is Veritas et fortitudo, truth and courage.

The Lyceum offers programs classical courses, law, the liberal arts, diplomacy, and journalism as well as the Engineering, Business and Accountancy, Mass Communications, Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management. The school aims to lead in tertiary level Information Technology education.

The school's roster of graduates has leaders in government, the arts, and the legal, diplomatic, commercial and other professions.
