Alfonso Yanga Miranda Jr., or popularly known as Chito Miranda is a Filipino singer and songwriter known for founding and being the lead singer of the band Parokya Ni Edgar.
Miranda was born on 7 February 1976 at V. Luna, Quezon City. He studied at St. Claire School when he was in Nursery level, and St. Jude while he was in Kinder.
He was 6 years old when his parents sent him to Ateneo de Manila University. It was during this time when he met his eventual band mates Dindin Moreno, Gab Chee Kee, Vinci Montaneer, Jeric Estaco, and Mikko Yap.
Before venturing as Parokya Ni Edgar, in his high-school years, they formed a garbage band and was initially “comic relief' because of their antics.
Apart from this band, Chito Miranda also made several key compositions which includes the soundtrack for the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival entry 10,000 Hours.
Other contributions in the music industry also involves forming a band called Superlooj. He also collaborated with Rico Blanco on a mash-up track "Panahon Na Naman ng Harana" in 2014.
Miranda dated TV actress Kaye Abad. Their relationship lasted for nine years.
Miranda was put on the bad light in 2013 after a series of sex scandal videos circulated over the World Wide Web, specifically those clips where he and her fiance Neri Naig had done sexual activities. Miranda explained somebody stole his hard drive and part of it comprised these snippets. He asked for apology from his family and from her partner.
After dating for two years, Miranda married Naig in December 2014.
Miranda is also active about voicing his opinion, especially if it concerts the country's music scene as a whole. In 2014, he criticized Cong. Teddy Baguilat for the proposed Original Pilipino Music (OPM) bill which require foreign acts to pay a reciprocal equity fee before they could hold shows in the country. Furthermore, he said, foreign acts have nothing to do with the declination of OPM's popularity. Piracy does.
In addition, he has been one of the most vocal personalities about the 2016 Philippine general elections. He is an active campaigning for the presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte. He also denounced an offer by a political camp worth two million pesos to promote a certain presidential hopeful.
